There was a hard ceiling here once, which refused to plot anything wider. It was put in on the assumption that the wire cost scaled with frame rate, and that stopped being true when the sweep gained a time base – a frame carries only the columns that elapsed, so traffic follows columns per second and the channel count multiplies a much smaller number. At a 2 s window, 2048 channels cost about 6 MB/s, which is not a reason to refuse a stream.
